Nokia has showcasd how 5G technology can transform the way people live and work as well as enhance the industrial productivity at World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) 2019 GSMA booth in Sharm El-Sheikh International Congress Center (SHICC), Egypt. As a global leader in 5G technology with its end-to-end portfolio, Nokia presents how this technology can benefit telecom operators, enterprises including the public sector as well individuals in Egypt.
In one of the demos, Nokia showcases 360-degree virtual reality (VR) live video streaming using its 5G connectivity leveraging New Radio (NR) high throughput capabilities in Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G architecture. In the demonstration, 3D 360 VR content was streamed to head-mounted displays, delivering a fully immersive VR experience for visitors. Three different high-quality video streams are broadcast at the same time, enabling real time experience at end user side. Nokia radio technology helps service providers deliver ultra-low latency and massive capacity, which is essential to support real-time IoT, VR, augmented reality and new applications such as remote surgery and autonomous cars.
The demonstration of 3D 360 VR video streaming over 5G provides a glimpse into the future of one such application. Nokia 5G technology allows operators to make the required transformations for future bandwidth-intensive applications, while at the same time utilizing their existing radio network investment.
In Connected Industries use case demo, self-learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) video solutions are used to monitor the manufacturing process to improve quality control and efficiency in factories. Apart from the data speed, 5G is offering manufactures the required ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) that will pave the way for the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).
With its 48 5G commercial contracts already announced and 15 live 5G networks with leading operators globally, including in the Middle East and Africa market, Nokia is a leader in the development and deployment of 5G technology across the world. Nokia is committed to bringing 5G to Egypt to unlock new opportunities and further the country’s socio-economic development. As an end-to-end network supplier, Nokia is uniquely positioned to address all its clients’ network, services, and software needs while helping them transition from 3G to 4G and 5G in the future.
