Savitha Bhaskar, the COO of Condo Protego, speaks about the challenges in 2020 and the opportunities to look out for in 2021

How was 2020 for the industry and your company?
This past year has seen numerous business and IT challenges brought on by the pandemic, forcing organizations, technology vendors, and channel partners to change our ways of thinking and doing.

Every industry vertical and country in the Middle East and worldwide is facing the same challenges of an unpredictable market. At the same time, the pandemic has also brought the technology ecosystem together to find technology solutions for short-term and long-term business challenges.

What sort of opportunities did 2020 bring along?
Middle East organizations are fixing overdue issues, accelerating their digital transformation, and developing innovative new business models. For example, offices are supporting remote working, governments and banks are offering more e-services, and educational institutions are enabling remote and hybrid learning.

According to you, which technologies will be in demand in 2021?
In 2021, we expect the Middle East to continue its digital shift, with the continued adoption of technology solutions such as hybrid cloud, data storage, information management, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity. As more organizations digitize on the cloud, they will also need to ensure that their networks are secure from rapidly evolving and growing cyber-threats, particularly ransomware.

What will be your key focus areas for 2021?
Condo Protego has always been a digital-first and cloud-first organization, with hybrid and remote working arrangements for both our employees and our customers. Despite the challenges of 2020, Condo Protego has maintained business continuity for our customers, posted growth, and gained business competitiveness.

What would you like to do differently in 2021, when compared with 2020?
Over the past year, Condo Protego also joined Secureworks’ Global Partner Program, aligning with one of the leading cybersecurity vendors and enhancing the Middle East’s security in the digitally connected world. We are continuing to expand our team, especially in growing our VMware consultants who can help organizations to modernize their future-ready digital infrastructure across cloud, security, and the distributed workforce.

In 2021, Condo Protego aims to continue to grow our business, weather the pandemic and emerge stronger from it, and further support Middle East market needs in enabling organizations’ digital transformation.
