The new facility, which is an expansion of the existing 10,250 sq m Vertiv E&I PowerBar Gulf factory, will cater to the IMS, switchgear, and busbar needs in the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and South Asian markets
Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The new manufacturing facility, which adds 5,700 sq m of production and office area, is an expansion of the existing 10,250 sq m E&I PowerBar Gulf busbar factory.
PowerBar Gulf currently manufactures Low Voltage Switchgear and Modular Power Solutions. According to the company, all LV switchgear is custom-built using a modular design that can be configured to suit site requirements. In addition, Powerbar Gulf’s modular power solutions offer a complete turnkey package for data centers. Fully assembled switchgear, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and power distribution unit (PDU) electrical schemes are engineered, built, and tested in the company’s controlled manufacturing facilities, ready to be installed on-site as a complete unit.
At the inauguration ceremony, Giordano Albertazzi, the CEO at Vertiv; and Adrian Sheridan, the Director at Powerbar Gulf | Vertiv, spoke exclusively with Arabian Reseller to share more details about the new facility. “The expanded factory which we have opened today provides needed manufacturing space for electrical switch gear and modular enclosures for data centers,” explained Adrian Sheridan, the Director at Powerbar Gulf | Vertiv. “The machinery and workforce for this is already in place. We have hired 50 people so far, and have hopes of hiring more people in the future to support expanding operations. As our business grows, we hope to expand our operations in this location.”
This expansion is expected to aid Vertiv in further aligning with the ever-growing demands of the critical data infrastructure industry, by manufacturing Integrated Modular Solutions (IMS) as well as Electrical Switchgear. The company said that the Ras Al Khaimah facility’s location is advantageous to catering to the IMS, Switchgear, and Busbar needs in the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and South Asian markets.
“In November 2021, we closed the acquisition of E&I Engineering Ireland Limited and PowerBar Gulf. It’s a great addition to the Vertiv portfolio and we strengthened our position as a leader in the data center critical infrastructure space,” added Giordano Albertazzi, who recently took over the helm at Vertiv as the company’s Global CEO. “This further expands the portfolio of Vertiv UPS, power distribution, switchgear, busbar, and power modules, providing an end-to-end portfolio of mission-critical power system solutions.”
According to Sheridan, the reason for RAK for the extension was because of efficiency and ease of setup. “RAKIA were most welcoming and it was easy since the land for this expansion was also available. With RAKIA we were dealing with a one-stop shop that sorted all the paperwork, visas, medicals, and so on, through one single point of contact,” Sheridan explained.
Speaking about his recent appointment as the Global CEO of Vertiv, Albertazzi said that the role offered was an honour. “I have been with the company for over 20 years, and going forward, we will continue to serve our key markets. While Vertiv is a global leader in the data center infrastructure sector, we are continually working to advance operational efficiency and technology innovations to better serve our customers and stakeholders around the world.”
