Jenny Ma, the Marketing Manager for Global Business Department at GameSir, speaks about the role women play in the tech industry
Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
I am the marketing manager of GameSir’a overseas department. Our department is responsible for product release and brand promotion.
Did you always know that working in the industry you represent was what you wanted to do? How did you decide on it?
Yes, I have been working in the gaming industry for four years. Nearly everyone likes playing games, and billions of gamers are willing to spend money on games and hardware. It’s a booming industry. Gaming is the future of entertainment.
What first got you interested in the industry you work in?
It’s a prosperous industry and gaming brings people happiness. We love to make people gaming better and more competitive.
Do you have a role model?
You may not know the Empress Wu Zetian in ancient China, the Tang dynasty. She was the only empress in the times when women took a back seat extremely. Her experience inspires women that we can reach our goals with our wisdom, effort, and persistence.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
In order to keep up with the times and trends, I must improve my personal skills like English, and knowledge about my work, and the industry all the time.
What advice would you give to women considering a career in the industry you represent?
Don’t hesitate and worry a lot about things that have not happened, just believe in yourself, try, and do your best! Seizing the opportunity is the most important thing.
What do you wish you had known?
School just teaches you the basic skills to learn, you need to learn the skill of living and working well by yourself.
What do you do to unwind after work?
Spending time with my family is a great relaxation for me.
