Anker recently announced the launch of a new lineup of GaNPrime charging solutions in the UAE. One of the new devices they launched in the market is the GaNPrime 733 2-in-1 Charger and Power Bank.

A quick refresher about GaN – Gallium Nitride or GaN is a compound that is commonly found in modern satellites and radars. Its use allows for the development of smaller and lighter chargers. According to Anker, on average, consumers save more than 7% in energy consumption with each charge when using GaNPrime chargers compared with traditional silicon chargers

The GaNPrime chargers are also compatible with a wide range of devices. According to Anker, this means that a single GaNPrime charger and USB-C cable can be used to power over 1,000 different mobile devices, eliminating the need to own multiple chargers and reducing e-waste from older or proprietary chargers.

Apart from functioning as a charger, the GaNPrime 733 can also be used as a portable battery pack, allowing you to charge devices on the go without the need for an outlet. On the charger, you will find two USB-C ports and one USB Type-A port. There is also a charging/battery indicator up top, which can be pressed to check the battery life remaining in the power bank.

It has a maximum output of 65W in charger mode and 30W in battery mode for the USB-C ports and 22.5W in charger and battery mode for the USB-A port. You also get a 10,000mAh battery built-in. The device weighs around 320 grams and is quite easy to be carried around in your laptop bag or backpack.

Inside the packaging, you get the Anker GaNPrime 733 2-in-1 Charger and Power Bank, along with a carry pouch, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, and a quick start guide. The charger also offers MultProtect technology, which protects your devices from short-circuit, overload, over-temperature, and over-voltage.

The ActiveShield feature of this charger monitors the temperature to ensure the safe charging of your devices. PowerIQ technology allows the charger to monitor the power needs of the devices connected to it and distribute power efficiently to charge each device effectively.

For this review, we charged three devices using the charger – a Huawei Matebook 14 laptop, a Fitbit Versa 4 smartwatch, and a Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G smartphone. We were quite surprised by the overall capability of the Anker GaNPrime 733.

When used as a wall charger, the Anker 733 took my Huawei Matebook 14 from 18% to 95% in about 50 minutes. I was also able to go from 0% to 50% on the Samsung Galaxy Note20 in about 30 minutes while using the Anker 733 as a power bank. And I was able to fully charge the Fitbit Versa 4 in about 25 minutes.

The Anker GaNPrime 733 2-in-1 Charger and Power Bank (1000mAh, 65W) is priced at a very affordable price point of AED 399. For that price, you get a device that is a charger that can charge three different devices at the same time and can also be used as a power bank, in scenarios when you find yourself staring at a dying smartphone with no power outlets in sight.

The Anker GaNPrime 733 is a good choice for tech-savvy travelers or anyone who needs to charge multiple devices while on the go. It can be used to expand the available power outlets and make it easier to charge multiple devices at once. The device thus comes across as highly recommended.
